The children are grown up and have moved out of their childhood home, leaving the house to you and your spouse. You might be wondering if now is the time to invest in a new home that will fit your new needs. Following our recommended floor plans for growing families, here are four custom floor plans for empty-nesters looking to settle in a new, cozy home for retirement.

The Holly

Available in both our CountryWay Town Square and Finley Woods neighborhood, the Holly is a beautiful designer, 1,812 sq. ft home that was built with the intention of entertaining guests. This home features a spacious great room and a breakfast island with the chef’s kitchen. The master bedroom is what makes the Holly ideal for retirees, featuring a jetted tub, a double vanity, and several windows for plenty of natural light to bask in during the mornings. The front room of the Holly is a flex space and can be transformed into a dining room, an office, or den while you can use the three bedrooms to host guests overnight, or even your children coming into town to visit.

The Hawthorne

This three-bedroom, 2.5 bath home features an open-concept floor plan that blends the formal dining room, kitchen, and great room. No kitchen is complete without an island, walk-in pantry, and a breakfast nook, which are all featured in the Hawthorne. Retirees can enjoy walk-in, his and hers closets, a jacuzzi tub, and double sink vanities. Bedrooms with windows facing north or south bring in the best natural light. To take advantage of the natural lighting,  you can customize one of your bedrooms into an office or arts and craft room. For retirees looking to downsize from their current home, this 1,795 sq. ft home is your solution and can be built in either Finley Woods or CountryWay Town Square.

The Maple

For retirees who are not looking for a smaller floor plan and would like space to host their children, grandchildren, or any other family members overnight, our Maple floor plan is perfect for you. The Maple is our Hawthorne plan that features an additional fourth bedroom that can be transformed into a den, playroom, or office. This extra room increases the size to 1,996 sq. ft. Similar to the Hawthorne, the Maple features coffer ceilings in the master suite and an open-floor concept that is perfect for hosting overnight guests or entertaining friends for the day or evening.

The Cottonwood

The Cottonwood is a cozy, cottage-style, 1920 sq. ft home perfect for retirees to spend the night in or to have guests over for dinner – or the weekend. This home features 9’ ceilings, a luxurious chef’s kitchen, and a vast great room. The front of the home features a bonus room that can be turned into a fourth guest bedroom, den, or office. Each bedroom features a walk-in closet and the master bath features a double sink vanity and a jetted tub. The Cottonwood can be built in all of our communities, including Woods of Alchrist, which is perfect for retirees looking for a more secluded yet luxurious development community away from the city noise.
